HAVE-A-GO FARM ORIENTEERING DAY
We are running orienteering courses with club members there to help, guide and give feedback where needed. This is open to students as well as teachers and parents. This Have-a-go day is a great chance to practice for the upcoming Manawatu Schools Individual Champs and Club events. To enter the Manawatu Individual Champs you will have to have had farm/forest experience.
The event will be held at Westerlee Farm near Bulls with training and course starts between 10:30am - 12:30pm with course closure at 1:30pm. There will be a White, Yellow and Orange course available to practice on.
This event is FREE for all attendees. Registration closes on Thursday March the 6th at 9pm. Pre- Registration only. Registration is so that we know approx. how many maps to print. If you think that you will want to do more than one course because you are inbetween colours ie. White and Yellow please tick both boxes. Please note that numbers are capped for this event.
White Course - This course is for beginners. Learn basic map symbols, map colours, read and understand control descriptions. Courses follow paths, fence line etc.
Yellow Course - More advanced symbol recognition, simple route choices, taking short cuts from paths and fence lines etc.
Orange Course - Use international symbols, interpret map features, and understand scales, contour reading, route choices, rough compass use, attack points used, and relocation skills.
Planner - Tony Patterson, Controller - Greg Sawyer
