Map:

• 2.5 m contours
• Mostly open pine forest with little undergrowth, soft forest floor with rotting small tree trunks.  (Quote from an organiser: “forest is beautiful with lots of interesting fungi. Big slimy toadstools, pretty little bright orange things growing out of pinecones”)

• White 1.5 km
• Yellow 2.0 km
• Orange 3.6 km
• Red Short 3.9 km
• Red Medium 5.0 km
• Red Long 7.2 km
• Not much climb

Red courses are for experienced orienteers only.  For those with less experience, please talk to an official at registration about which course is most appropriate for you.

 

Directions:

Drive south-west from Bulls on Parawanui Road, turn right onto Forest Road and drive for about 4 km.  Enter the forest at the signs at Road 7 (425 Forest Road), and follow signs for about 2 km along Road 7 to the Event Centre – although parking will be along the road 300 m before the Event Centre. Start and finish are adjacent to the event centre.  (Please note that there are other Forest Roads in other nearby forests – make sure you are navigating to Forest Road, Parewanui.)

 

Starts:

10.30-12.30. 

Strict course closure time of 2pm (controls will be collected from 2pm).

 

Entry fees (please bring cash):

• Members: Adult $10 / Junior $5 / Family $25
• Non-members: Adult $15 / Junior $8 / Family $30

 

Other notices:

• No cell phone coverage in the forest
• Please bring your own water
